YNG King Dolo was born 1991 in Opelika, Alabama. Not long after his birth his mother moved back to her hometown of Harlem. Growing up on 125th street in Grant projects with he was greatly influenced by the different eras of his family’s music catalogue. Noticeable influences such as Al Green, James Brown, and Bob Marley humbled him towards his elders. While the influences of Busta Rhymes, Sade and Michael Jackson played intricately in the melodic, urban, and lyrical adaptations to his music style.
Surrounded by a diverse array of sounds, YNG King Dolo developed a profound appreciation for the legends that came before him. The soulful harmonies of Al Green and the revolutionary rhythms of James Brown instilled in him a deep respect for his elders and the cultural heritage they represented. Bob Marley’s messages of love and resilience further inspired him, reminding him of the power of music to transcend boundaries and connect people.
